SYNOPSIS

Newtopia is an intense and emotional drama set against the backdrop of a crumbling world overrun by zombies. The story follows Lee Jae-Yoon (Park Jeong-Min), a soldier, and his girlfriend Kang Young-Joo (Kim Ji-Soo), who are thrust into a battle for survival after being on the verge of a breakup. Set in an air defense unit housed within a high-rise building in Seoul, the series captures their desperate fight against the undead while also exploring their emotional journey toward reconciliation.

Jae-Yoon, who enlisted in the military at the age of 26, sought a more stable future by serving in the defense industry. Feeling anxious and uncertain about his future, he becomes increasingly fixated on his relationship with Young-Joo. His insecurity and fear of the unknown lead him to push her away, and just as the two are about to break up, an unimaginable crisis strikes. A sudden, catastrophic outbreak of an unknown virus turns people into mindless, flesh-hungry zombies. Jae-Yoon, once weak and lacking in self-confidence, is forced to step up in the face of the apocalypse. As he battles the zombie hordes and leads his squad through the chaos, he begins to find strength and purpose, gradually evolving into a natural leader.

On the other hand, Kang Young-Joo, a rookie just starting her life in society, is struggling to find her footing. She feels misunderstood by Jae-Yoon, who is too consumed by his own worries to understand her emotions. Before the breakup notification, their relationship had been strained, but Young-Joo is suddenly thrust into the heart of a disaster. As she sets out to find her boyfriend, she is faced with the horror of the zombie outbreak. Initially overwhelmed, she soon adapts and begins to grow stronger, both physically and mentally, as she fights for survival in a world gone mad.

Newtopia is not only a survival story but also a powerful narrative about personal growth, redemption, and the strength of love. As Jae-Yoon and Young-Joo struggle to reunite, they must confront their past insecurities and misunderstandings while navigating the dangers of a world where the dead walk and survival becomes a daily battle. Their journey is one of survival, self-discovery, and the hope that, even in the face of an apocalyptic nightmare, love and human connection can still endure.

With breathtaking action, poignant emotional moments, and a gripping exploration of the human spirit in times of crisis, Newtopia promises to be a compelling and unforgettable drama. As Jae-Yoon rises to the challenges of leadership, and Young-Joo finds her strength in the fight for survival, the series highlights how love, resilience, and determination can emerge in the most unlikely of circumstances.
